Pike jigs and pike shads

Large pike jigs, i.e. 15–30 cm long pike shads have become highly popular for casting. Typically, these consist of a rubber lure to which the user adds their preferred hooks. You will also need a jig screw, that is attached to the nose of the lure. Alternatively, it is also possible to use a large jig head instead of a jig screw, particularly when fishing in deeper water. Happy Angler's range includes all the supplies you need for building great rigs. There are many ways to rig a shad.

Pike shads often quite heavy, which means that the rod and reel must be suitable for heavy-duty pike fishing. The teeth of a pike are famously sharp and there are plenty of them. Thus, a soft rubber lure and pike teeth are not the best possible combination. To tackle this issue, softbait glue can be used to fix cuts and bitemarks on jigs, thus significantly extending the lifetime of lures.
