Description
Fly fishing equipment is classified according to a numeric code. The AFTM classification is used internationally. The number represents the size category. The number 1 stands for extremely lightweight equipment, whereas the number 12 means the heaviest rods that are designed for two-handed use. AFTM stands for American Fly-fishing Tackle Manufacturers. Today, the initialism is rarely used, and is instead usually replaced with a hash mark, for example 6#.
AFTM 6–7 is a suitable size for new fly fishers. This category of rods has decent general qualities. It is suited to both trout and rainbow trout, but also for smaller salmon. AFTM is good for dry fly and wet fly fishing, and is suitable for both floating and sinking lines. Best rods for fly fishing for pike can be found in the AFTM 8–9 categories.
Includes:
• Fly fishing reel
• Ready-spooled backing
• Compatible floating fly line
• Fly line taper
• 4-piece Daiwa Trout Fly rod
• Rod sleeve that can be used to safely transport and store your rod
