Fish traps are popular fishing gear
The popularity of fish trap fishing comes from its simplicity and ease of use: simply place the trap in shallow water near the shore and return later to check your catch. It's a good idea to check the fish trap daily to help keep your catch in good condition and prevent it from spoiling due to warm temperatures or lack of space.
Fish traps are best suited to freshwater fishing
When choosing a fish trap or other passive fishing gear, consider the fish and crayfish species found in the water. Fish traps are best suited to freshwater fishing and are primarily used for catching smaller fish species. Crayfish traps, meanwhile, are designed for catching crayfish. Fyke nets can be used for species such as pike.
