Kuusamo Lure

Kuusamon Uistin was born from the dream of two friends. Paavot Korpua and Putila were keen fishermen and good friends since their youth. The only problem with the hobby was the lack of lure models that men liked, which was easily solved by starting to make their own fishing lures.

The men's ideas and designs for the lures quickly became known among other fishermen, and they were in demand from the local area and even further afield. The lures proved to be very popular outside Kuusamo, and so the Paavos were finally able to realize their dream and found their own company, Kuusamo Lure Oy, in 1967.

At first, Kuusamon Uistin focused on manufacturing a few well-known models. These perennial favorites that are still in use today were the Professor, Räsänen and Kitkan Viisas. The company expanded steadily and at the same time the number of lure models in production also grew. Today, Kuusamon Uistin manufactures and sells over 50 different lures and fishing accessories.

Because fishing is an activity that takes place in nature, something also happens to nature as a result of fishing. Kuusamo Uistimi believes that fishing is a truly valuable and worthwhile hobby. Its effects on fishermen and, why not, on the national economy are significant. While fishing is a significant and important hobby, it must also be responsible and in line with the principles of sustainable development.

Every fisherman must know and understand their responsibilities. If we do not care about common rules and agreements, and do not respect each other and the environment, the position of fishing may become even more cramped in the long term.

As a lure manufacturer, Kuusamon Uistin is also aware of its own responsibility. A single company cannot influence the behavior of individual fishermen, at least not by urging them to act ethically and morally correctly. However, Kuusamon Uistin can examine and develop its own operations according to the same principles.

Kuusamon Uistin has developed its manufacturing process in such a way that, although it processes a lot of inherently hazardous substances, none of them are released into the environment. All residues generated in the process are collected and delivered to appropriate places for processing. The raw materials and materials used in manufacturing are also such that nothing harmful is released into the environment from Kuusamon Uistin's finished lures.
