Marttiini Korpi Annual Knife 2024

KORPI is Marttiini's annual knife for 2024. The Korpi knife was inspired by the Finnish conifer swamp forests as evidenced by the earth toned colorway. The handle made from thermally treated birch, curly birch, and birch veneer has been shaped to fit perfectly in your hand. Clear protective wax finish ensures long and fruitful service life. The design of the knife draws its inspiration from earthy colors and contrasts that provide a modern nuance to the knife. The sheath is made from lightweight brown leather. The handy and practical design of the Korpi knife makes it a perfect tool for various uses both around the house and in the great outdoors. The relatively short blade ensures easy handling and is made from Finnish steel. The stainless steel used by Martttini is an easy-to-maintain blade material, which allows the blade to retain its sharpness for a long time. The steel alloy contains 13% of chromium and its hardness is 53.5–55 Rockwell Units (HRC). We recommend using a diamond sharpener for chromium steel blades. Curly birch is a traditional material for the handles of Finnish knives. The wood comes from the curly birch belt in Central Finland. Blaze-patterned curly birch is an excellent material for knife handles because it is durable and beautiful. Curly birch is available on the market in limited amounts, which rises the price notably higher than regular birch. The leather sheaths of Marttiini knives are made of either vegetable or chrome tanned ox hide. The leather hides are purchased from both Europe and South America. Sheaths are made of both dyed and natural colored leather. The knife sheaths are still made mostly by hand. Each sheath has to be exactly the right size and shape, so it forms a fitting pair with the knife. A section of the leather is cut with a die cut tool, and the seams are glued before sewing. Each knife is individually numbered. The knife is delivered in a cardboard gift package. • Blade: stainless chromium steel (4034/X46Cr13, HRC 53.5–55) • Blade length: 7.5 cm • Total length: 19.5 cm • Weight: 69 grams • Handle: Thermally treated birch, curly birch, and birch veneer treated with clear wax • Sheath: Lightweight brown leather • Weight of the package: 110 grams • Size of the product package: 26 x 6 x 5 cm
